NOTE: TENSION-ONLY as a commercial terminology was FIRST invented here.
UTP had powerful capability for transmission towers with a lot of tension-only members with Oblique Planar Joints. The one-cycle input-output to finish all computations had superseded STRUDL TOWER by McAUTO before it was born late in 1971. STRUDL TOWER (or STRUDL, a $1.6 million product from M I T ) had NO tension-only capability and was a FIGHTING program to confuse the public against UTP by McAUTO after it had received CAEinc UTP input manaul.
STAAD III claim of Truss Structure With Tension Bracings of EXAMPLE PROBLEM NO.4 in early decade of 1980 was essentially a MISREPRESENTATION.
