DISCOVERY IN NON-LINEAR THEORY APPLICATION
The Hyper STRUDL(USP) was and is based on a theoretical discovery/break-through in FINITE ELEMENT THEORY.
It was and is unpublished but the Program was completed.
1) A slender steel is strong in tension while it will bend without breaking in compression .
2) A new concept in economic design is to use two cables in cross(CROSS-CABLE) as ELEMents ONE-way in Tension rather than one slanted bar.
2-1) Since a slanted bar has to be beefed up for buckling compression while a CROSS-CABLE is sufficient by itself.
2-2) Thus such new design becomes economical.
3) Further, there are structures that are non-linear by themselves. They are suspension bridge, guyed tower, cable dome and so on.
3-1) Hyper STRUDL can handle them all easily and simply. It treats them all as ELEment ONE-way T in input in MODEL.DAT.
3-2) An Engineer can judge whether it is a geometric non-linearity with:
3-2-1) small displacement, NO FURTHER INPUT NEEDED.
3-2-2) big displacement, you input ONE LINE, say; BIGD 20 (Big Displacemnet with 20-cycle limit) in input in LOAD.DAT.
4) Further, Hyper STRUDL gives ONE CYCLE INPUT-OUTPUT to finish a run under various loading combinations, Say; 1.4DL + 1.7LL+1.33WL with a lot of load cases (say; 60) whether the structure is linear or non-linear.
